Bioblast alert 2014

Bioblast alert 2014(01): 2014-02-12

  • ISMM2014: X. World Congress on High Altitude Medicine and Physiology & Mountain Emergency Medicine, with a session on mitochondrial function at high altitude. May 2014, Bolzano, Italy.
  • MiP2014 - Joint IUBMB/MiP Symposium on Mitochondrial Physiology: This MiPconference will cover genotype/phenotype and structure/function relationships; focus on optimization of experimental protocols, quality control and normalization of mt-function; compare mt-preparations, experimental platforms and tissue/species specific models; extend networking of national/international organizations. September 2014, Obergurgl, Austria.
  • MitoGlobal_Events_2014: Check out this yearโ€™s emerging list of world-wide mitochondrial events. Let us know about additional mt-events to be listed. In the spirit of positive feedback, please refer on your website to the Global Network.
  • MitoPedia Glossary: Malate as substrate in respirometry โ€“ at higher concentrations. The type and concentration of respiratory substrates is important for the design of substrate-uncoupler-inhibitor titration (SUIT) protocols. 0.5 mM malate saturates CI linked respiration in combination with pyruvate and/or glutamate, whereas 2 mM malate inhibits CII linked (succinate+rotenone) and CI+II linked respiration, as shown in mouse heart (collaboration with the group of Giza Ali SS|Sameh Ali), mouse brain homogenate, beef heart mitochondria, human permeabilized skeletal muscle fibres, dog permeabilized skeletal muscle fibers (IOC84), brine shrimp embryo (Artemia franciscana) mitochondria (collaboration with LA Baton Rouge Hand SC|Steve Hand), fish liver and heart homogenates (post IOC80 training course).

Bioblast alert 2013

Bioblast alert 2013(01): 2013-07-08

  • MitoPedia glossary: Basal respiration in physiology, cellular bioenergetics and mitochondrial physiology - an updated article, introducing Bioblast-MitoPedia.
  • MitoGlobal project: The Mitochondrial Global Network (MitoGlobal) initiates a joint publication to review the state-of-the-art terminology in the rapidly expanding field of mitochondrial respiratory physiology. From the present start there is a long way to go, and we invite experts in the field to a joint walk, asking for your suggestions - Email to Erich Gnaiger.
  • MiPsummer School 2013: Mitochondrial Physiology - "Theory & Praxis" - the annual highlight that students of cellular bioenergetics and mitochondrial physiology cannot afford to miss! August 26-30, 2013, Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • MiPconference 2013 - Comparative Mitochondrial Physiology MiP2013, September 23-27, 2013, Obergurgl, Austria. Due to some cancellations, a limited number of late registrations can still be accepted. >>MiP2013 abstracts online

Bioblast alert 2013(02): 2013-08-08

Bioblast alert 2013(03): 2013-09-18

  • MiP2013: Comparative Mitochondrial Physiology: The Book of Abstracts is available of the 9th MiPconference >>> Open Access
- A MiPconference dedicated to Kjell Johansen and Peter Hochachka - in the spirit of global networking rooted in the pioneering work of August Krogh;
- contributions by John E Walker, Vladimir P Skulachev, Anibal E Vercesi, Hong Kyu Lee and many more outstanding mitochondrial physiologists;
- a MiPsession on "Tissue differences in diabesity - mouse and rat" (MiPathology C2).
  • MitoPedia news: MiPMap - initiation of a project on mt-properties in cell types, tissues and species:
- Comparative mitochondrial physiology - publications in the MiPMap.

Bioblast alert - feedback

  • Eine tolle und sehr nรผtzliche Website! (This is a great and useful webpage!) - Gottfried Schatz, Basel, CH (2012-10-28)
  • I have been absolutely astonished by the quantity and quality of online information made available by Oroboros through Bioblast and the associated resources. Josh Fessel Nashville, TN, US (2012-11-26)
