not recommended any more

  • Storage options:
  1. Divide into 0.2 mL portions in glass vials.
  2. Store the whole solution in 5 mL glass vial and use subsamples during experiments to avoid contamination of the stock solution.

In ORO-lab the stock solution is always divided into aliquots (documented since 2017-06). There is no reason why storage of the whole solution in one larger glass vial should be recommended.

Light sensitivity?

In many labs it is a tradition to protect CCCP from light. Is that necessary?
  • Sigma-Aldrich: no hint to light sensitivity, compound does not have a retest-date that would be a hint to low stability
  • PubChem: no hint to light sensitivity
  • Several vendor pages listed on PubChem were checked: no hint to light sensitivity
  • BioCrick This is a vendor listed on PubChem. No hint to light sensitivity, but they provide a nice description of solubility and storage: "For obtaining a higher solubility , please warm the tube at 37 ℃ and shake it in the ultrasonic bath for a while. Stock solution can be stored below -20℃ for several months." They report solubility in DMSO, not EtOH.
