Functional Mitochondrial Diagnosis

Dear colleague,

We would like to integrate information on approaches to functional diagnosis of mitochondrial diseases. Specifically, we would be glad if you can quickly provide us with a [Yes/No] to the following questions. Section 3 is general, for all mitochondrial labs independent of diagnostic involvement.

1. Is your lab involved in diagnostic evaluation of mitochondrial defects in patients? [Yes / No]

If Yes:

2. Which models do you apply for functional mitochondrial diagnosis:

i) Isolated mitochondria [Y/N]
ii) Specific enzymes [Y/N]
iii) Tissue homogenate [Y/N]
iv) Permeabilized tissue, muscle fibres [Y/N]
v) Permeabilized cells [Y/N]
vi) Intact cultured cells (fibroblasts, ..) [Y/N]
vii) Blood cells (platelets, monocytes, ..) [Y/N]
viii) If you can add any further information, this would be highly appreciated: e.g. tissue, cell types; specific mt-diseases; other ...

3. Do you want to be listed as a Mitochondrial Global Network Centre [Yes / No]

If Yes - field of research of your centre

i) Basic [Y / N]
ii) Clinical [Y / N]
iii) Veterinary [Y / N]
iv) Diagnostic [Y / N]
v) Pharmacological [Y / N]
vi) Other ...

If your centre is listed already, please check if the contact details and all information are correct. Based on your valuable feedback, specific diagnostic links may be established, evaluating the possibility of joint project proposals, organization of workshops, or other forms of collaboration.

By return Email, you will receive a link to your MitoGlobal page on the Bioblast wiki.

This is a project in the spirit of Gentle Science. With many thanks and best wishes,
